Columbia Graphophone Type AZ cylinder phonograph.
If you have been s
eeking an original condition 2-minute cylinder phonograph, consider this well-preserved double decal example.
The original shellac finish on both the cabinet and horn is wonderful, as you can see in the photos. This 1906 example was on the cusp of changes being made to the Columbia disc phonograph lineup, including the phasing out of the earlier banner decal,
along
with the addition of a circular grand prize rear decal.
The Nickel plating on the
top works
is in bright condition, and the black japanned paint and decals on the cast iron architecture look great. The AZ features an elegant lyre reproducer carriage, brightly nickeled.
The powerful 2-spring Columbia motor has been completely serviced and easily plays through a couple of cylinder with a full winding. A new leather Wyatt Markus drive belt has been installed, the best cylinder phonograph belting ever produced.
The Original Columbia "Lyric" reproducer, introduced with the Type AZ, has been carefully adjusted and tuned, retaining its original mica diaphragm and an original sapphire stylus, turned to a fresh facet for optimal and safe playback.
This phonograph features a robust 14" black and brass horn, produced roughly 45 years ago and perhaps one of the best 14" reproductions that have been sold through the years.
Included with this fine Graphophone are two clean Columbia 2-minute recordings
so you can enjoy this phonograph right out of the box.
One is a Columbia Indestructible celluloid ( early plastic) record, and one Columbia Black Wax record. This machine will safely play all standard-sized 2-minute Black Wax and celluloid cylinder records. There are countless hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of 2-minute records available on Ebay and elsewhere. If you
