MANUFACTURES CERAMIQUES d'HEMIXEM GILLIOT & CO. BELGIUM TILE W/STORK MEDALLION
This beautifully framed tile measures 9.75" square. The tile itself measures 6" square. It is made of white clay. This tile is decorated in relief, with a single majestic Stork in a medallion-style presentation. The details on the stork are simply exquisite, very finely executed. It is glazed is a rich and vibrant ochre/amber color, finished in a high glossy sheen. This tile is unmarked, but it was made in Belgium, circa 1890-1910 by the tile manufacturer Ceramiques d'Hemixem Gilliot & Co.  The frame is wood, and painted in a rich gold tone color, and finished in a satin sheen. This tile is in near mint condition, with just a couple of spots (head feather area) in which the glaze has been abraded on the high points. This is well shown in the photos. This framed 'Stork' tile makes a very handsome and elegant presentation!
