COLUMBIA "BG" PHONOGRAPH
Offered for sale is this nice Columbia BG, made around 1909. It was colloquially named the "Sovereign". It was a premier offering, costing when new (about 3 months wages for the average workingman).
This is equipped with factory gearing that will play 2-minute and 4-minute cylinders by means of a simple gear-change device on the left side.
Equipped with a 4-spring motor, and extended length mandrel that will accommodate the longer "20th Century" cylinders. The original Columbia #15 reproducer will play both types of "Indestructable" cylinders (we do not recommend playing early wax cylinders).
The mahogany case, in excellent condition, has been refinished in the past.
The brass bed plate and top works are nickel-plated, with some wear commensurate with age.
An original aluminum horn is fitted and supplied with the machine.

We do our own packing and shipping, so it is done right, using fresh, new materials, not stuff we picked out of a local dumpster. This will require two (2) separate boxes, one for the mechanism, and another for the cabinet, horn and other smaller items.  Some re-assembly will of course be required by the buyer.
