This is for 12 Mayer China Coffee Mugs made Expressly for the Helmsley Hotel of New York.
The mugs measure approximately 2 1/2 inches tall and 3 3/8 inches across. The mugs have a burgundy color band with a fine black lines and gold trim and handle.  The inside of the mug is off white.  Excellent condition. There are no crazing, chips, or cracks. On the bottom of the mug it says Made Expressly for The Helmsley Hotel of New York, Mayer China Co. Beaver Falls, PA. 290. The Helmsley Hotel (originally named The Harley Hotel) was once owned by the Hotel Queen Leona Helmsley and her husband Harry.  During her reign as Hotel Royalty, Ms. Helmsley was an alleged perfectionist, if something was made for her hotel it would have been of the best quality.  We found these in an estate we were cleaning out.
